19 & 20 June
2010
100 years of Alfa Romeo, 100
years of passion.
For its
ninth edition
SpaItalia
will celebrate the centenary of Alfa Romeo ! Created in
1910 the “Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili” or A.L.F.A.
took as its logo from two symbols of the city of Milan: the
cross of the municipality and the snake with a dragon’s head
from the Visconti family. Some years later, the company lacked
guidance under the Frenchman, Alexandre Darracq but changed its
name from A.L.F.A. to Alfa Romeo, when the engineer,
Nicolas Romeo, took over the management. Since then the brand
has met with the success that we all know and has imposed its
name on the list of prize winners of the most famous races in
the world such as the Le Mans 24-hour race, the Targa Florio, or
Mile Miglia as well as numerous championships for touring cars
which remain its speciality.
A special
exhibition will focus on the brand’s history which combines
sport, popular car production, and exceptional masterpieces - in
a word, the history of passion.
Alfa
Romeo clubs from Belgium and abroad will be represented and
part of the programme will be an exceptional parade on the
Formula One circuit of Francorchamps with a maximum number of
Alfa Romeo cars participating.
The Alfa Romeo gathering followed
by the journey to Milan!
For
Alfa Romeo owners a special package can be reserved now
covering both the weekend in
SpaItalia
and the journey from Spa to Milan to join in the centenary
festivities planned on June 24th in the Milan region.
